M.Ed., BCBA, LBA
Janet Black was a Special Education teacher in both public and private schools for 20 years. During that time, she assessed and instructed children ages birth to 21 with many different disabilities. She also served as an administrator for two private day schools and designed curriculum to meet the needs of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Since 1998, she has been associated with Virginia Pediatric Group, Ltd., and specializes in the cognitive, behavioral, and learning skills of young children there. Her clinical background includes earning her BCBA certification in 2007 and designing behavioral interventions founded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Her latest projects include designing Verbal Behavior programming for preschoolers and working with children with Rett Syndrome.
She earned her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, while raising three children of her own.
Parents and children all benefit from Janet’s vast experience as each assessment and follow-up program is designed to fit the individual needs of the child. Parents receive coaching on techniques to help scaffold their child’s learning and shape their behavior. Research has proven that early intervention works and can save parents and children alike from having to take more difficult or unwanted paths.
Janet Black is a licensed Special Education teacher in both Virginia and Pennsylvania. She is licenced by the Board of Medicine to practice as a Behavior Analyst in Virginia.
